Hey Everyone –
It’s time, time for auditions!
The Dance Works 2015/2016 competitive dance teams’ auditions will take place on Saturday, July 18 at The Dance Works Great Oaks location. All dancers interested in auditioning will need to fill out a registration form on our studio website. Under description—place Company auditions and which team you will be auditioning for. (Crew and/or team) Please note that dancers do not audition for specific teams—placement is at the discretion of the directors. Dancers should arrive for their audition early to warm-up. Appropriate dance attire and shoes should be worn, please see below for specifics for each level.
During the audition, dancers will be asked to demonstrate various technique to the best of their ability. They will also be given a short routine to learn and perform. Dancers will be judged on technique, execution, precision, showmanship, and the ability to learn and take correction. Dancers auditioning need to have two years of ballet training and one year of jazz training in order to audition for our team. Dancers auditioning for Crew need to have one year of hip hop training.

Dancers ages 6 – 12
9:30 – 12:00
Dancers ages 13 +
12:30 – 3:30
Dancers auditioning for our Hip Hop Crews (ages 6 and up)
3:30 – 5:00
All dancers will need to:
-Bring a 8 x 10 headshot and dance resume
-Come in black shorts, and black sports bra or leotard (for our technical dance teams) and Black T-shirt for Crew
-Have hair pulled back in a tight competition ready bun with black headband of any kind.
-No bright nail polish
-Bring appropriate shoes (jazz shoes, sneakers for hip hop)
THE DANCE WORKS COMPANY REQUIREMENTS
Dancers and families who are selected for The Works Company are required to:
• Sign a one-year contract detailing DW competitive team policies, procedures and commitment. This will be addressed at the company meeting before fall classes begin
• Attend all the listed regional and national competitions and conventions outlined in the Company Handbook
• Attend all scheduled rehearsals and choreography weekends
• Abide by rules and regulations set forth in the DW Competitive team handbook
