Auditions Are Scheduled

The Dance Works 2014/2015 competitive dance teams auditions will take place on Tuesday, August 12 at The Dance Works Great Oaks location. All dancers interested in auditioning will need to fill out a registration form on our studio website. Under description—place Company auditions. Dancers should arrive for their audition early to warm-up. Appropriate dance attire and shoes should be worn, please see below for specifics for each level.

During the audition, dancers will be asked to demonstrate various technique to the best of their ability. They will also be given a short routine to learn and perform. Dancers will be judged on technique, execution, precision, showmanship, and the ability to learn and take correction.

Dancers will be notified of their placement via email within one day of the audition.
All placements are final.

All dancers will need to:

-Bring a headshot and dance resume
-Come in black shorts, and black sports bra or leotard (sports bra mandatory for Elites) and Black T-shirt of any style for Crew with dark pants and/or capris.
-Have hair pulled back in a tight competition ready bun with black headband of any kind.
-No jewelry
-No tights
-No bright nail polish
-Bring appropriate shoes (jazz shoes, sneakers for hip hop)

Mini (ages 6+), Junior (ages 9+) Teen (ages 11+) Audition time:

-Jazz Combo
-Contemporary combo

Elite (ages 14+) Audition time:
-Self warm up
-Progressions and skills
-Broadway combo
-Jazz combo
-Contemporary combo

***Lil’ Crew (ages 6+) Elite Crew (ages 11+) Audition time:
-Group warm up

***The Dance Works introduces our newest addition to our competitive teams this year—Lil’ Crew. This team will consist of dancers 6 and up and follow the same format class/competition format as our Elite Crew, only for our younger dancers.

Please note that competitive teams rehearse on Saturday’s during the school year. Competitions for these events take place over the course of a full weekend (Saturday/Sunday). If you have any questions, please contact the director or associate director.
