The Dance Works Staff: Director Michelle Bellamy-Arndt

MICHELLE BELLAMY-ARNDT

Owner and Studio Director

Michelle began her dance training at the tender age of three in Grand Island, Nebraska. She began instructing dancers in her hometown of Cairo, Nebraska while a freshman in high school. Upon graduation, she attended the University of Nebraska and Creighton University where she studied dance.

Michelle has had successful studios in Grand Island, Nebraska, Sioux City, Iowa, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and taught dance classes to aspiring dancers in Yorktown, Virginia, prior to the opening of The Danceworks in Austin, Texas.
The Dance Works Staff: Jessica Tremblay

JESSICA TREMBLAY

Assistant Competition Team Director and Instructor

Ms. Tremblay is on her 24th year of dance and has been an instructor at The Danceworks since 2003. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art from the University of Texas at Austin. Jessica grew up in Fort Worth, Texas where she received her dance training from Bruce Lea Dance Factory and Gayle Corkery School of Ballet. Jessica's competition team won many national awards and titles at competitions including Showstoppers, Showbiz, Stage One, and Starlight. She also has performed in many local shows including Mayfest, Oktoberfest, Miss Fort Worth and Miss Texas Pageants. She has also participated in her high school musicals as well as choreographed Bye Bye Birdie her Senior year. Jessica also had the opportunity to perform with UT's STEEL Dance Company, where she was a member for 5 years and Publicity Manager for 2 years. STEEL Dance Company performed at many UT functions including Gone to Texas, Texas Revue, UT/OU pep rallies, and Campus Fusion. She was also given the opportunity to choreograph for the company as well.
The Dance Works Staff: Wendy Palmer Clark

WENDY PALMER CLARK

Instructor

Wendy Palmer Clark began training in classical ballet with Tessa Williams and Peggy Gooder-Tan in Spokane, WA. Upon graduation of high school she worked as an apprentice with the Eugene Ballet Company. She went on to dance with the City Ballet of San Diego and Ballet Spokane. Over the years she has desired to continue her knowledge and versatility as a dancer by studying ballet, contemporary, modern, Bartineiff Fudamentals, yoga, pilates, hiphop, and contact improvisation with individuals including Kathryn Irey, Elizabeth Swallow, Katrina Mirinsky, and Kristen Potts. She also graduated from Goddard College after presenting a thesis on dance education in the 21st century and became certified as an aesthetic educator with the Lincoln Center Institute. She recently moved to Austin so her husband could get his PhD and is looking forwarding to teaching in the Austin community.

MORGAN EDDY

Instructor

Morgan Eddy began dancing in Austin, Texas at the age of 3 with D'Ette and Company Dancers in South Austin. At age 13, she moved to Fusion Performance Company (Now Premiere Dance Center). She attended multiple dance conventions and competitions annually, as well as many master classes under the instruction of many great teachers such as Mia Michaels, Wade Robson, Rhonda Miller, Joe Tremaine, Tyce Diorio, Brian Friedman, and many others. After high school, she decided to further her career in dance and attended Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX. Morgan studied Dance for four and a half years with such professors and Guest Artists as Dana Nicolay (Dean of SH Dance Department), Jennifer Pontius (Associate Dean), Dr. Cindy Gratz, Andy and Dionne Noble (NobleMotion Dance), Amy Llanes (Rednerrus Feil Dance Company), Jonathan Charles, Astrid von Ussar (Faculty dance teacher at Alvin Ailey School, as well as owner of Danceworks in New York City), Charlotte Boye- Christensen (Artistic Director of Woodbury Dance Company in Salt Lake City, Utah) Kista Tucker (Kista Tucker Dance Company), and Melissa Wynn (Juilliard). She attended American College Dance Festival Association ACDFA in March of 2009 in College Station, TX. She was able to perform at the festival and attend master classes from renowned professors from different areas of the country. Morgan currently lives in Austin and is ready to share her knowledge of dance to the community.
The Dance Works Staff: Madeline Grant

MADELINE GRANT

Instructor

Madeline began studying dance at The DanceWorks at the early age of 8. During her past nine years, she has earned numerous awards, both at the state and national level. She has studied with internationally famous choreographers such as Mia Michaels, Wade Robson and hip-hop artist Shane Sparks. During 2009, along with dancing at The Dance Works, Madeline trained at Ballet Austin, Texas Academy of Ballet, and Oklahoma City University. A native Texan, Madeline lives with her family and is the oldest of six children. In her spare time, she enjoys playing the piano and being active in her home-school youth group.
The Dance Works Staff: Rebecca Ojeda

REBECCA OJEDA

Instructor

Rebecca Ojeda started dancing at the age of 10 here in Austin, Texas in a program called "Believe in me". After discovering her love for dance, she went on to pursue learning many different styles. Rebecca received numerous choreography awards throughout her years in school. She had the opportunity to perform in many different shows including the Dennis Quaid Celebrity Poker Fashion Show. Rebecca has been a teacher here at The Danceworks since 2008.
The Dance Works Staff: Sonja Snow

SONJA SNOW

Instructor

Sonja was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Sonja started dancing at the age of four, she danced and performed with Southwest Ballet Company for all of her grade school years. After high school she received a dance scholarship to attend West Texas A&M University. While studying in Texas she dance with Lone Star Ballet Company, and spent three summers performing In the Musical Drama "Texas", she also taught all of the college level Jazz classes at WTA&MU. After receiving her B.F.A in dance, she moved back to New Mexico and danced with New Mexico Ballet Company for one Season. After getting married Sonja and her husband moved to Las Vegas, so she could audition for shows. Having lived in Las Vegas for 8 years, she danced in "Tournament of Kings" at the Excalibur, "Celebration Lounge" at the Tropicana, and most recently she danced for three years for "Siegfried and Roy." While dancing Sonja Taught for the Academy of Ballet for six years, teaching Ballet and Jazz. After "Siegfried and Roy" closed, Sonja had a little girl who is now two. Sonja, and her family moved to Texas in February. Sonja has over 12 years of teaching experience.

LEAH SMILEY TUBBS

Instructor

Leah Smiley Tubbs, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, studied dance at Alabama School of Fine Arts (ASFA) and University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa. She toured with the Alabama Ballet during her time at ASFA. She is a former scholarship recipient of the American Ballet Theater Summer Intensive. She has been blessed to dance with several prominent companies such as Dayton Contemporary Dance Second Company (DCdC2), Cleveland Contemporary Dance Theatre (CCDT), Lula Washington Dance Theater, Project 21, LA Dancers and Choreographers, and Donna Sternberg and Dancers. She is currently the Artistic Director of Ballet Afrique Contemporary Dance Company.

MINDY VANCE

Instructor

Mindy grew up in a military family stationed for most of her young life in Killeen, Texas. She began her training in dance as a four year member on the high school dance team, Emeralds. Upon graduation from High School, Mindy went on to pursue her passion for dance at Texas State University. While there, she choreographed and performed as well as was a member of The Orchesis Dance Company. Recently graduated with degree in dance , Mindy is looking forward to working with the amazing group of aspiring dancers at The Dance Works!
